NeurotechEU Phase 2 is here!

NeurotechEU’s Phase 2 has started in 1 November 2023 and a first consortium wide meeting was held in Lille, France between 12-15 November 2023.

In Phase 2 there are 5 work packages (WP):

WP1 Management and Coordination

WP2 Interdisciplinary Knowledge Creation

WP3 Empowering Learners and Staff

WP4 Common Policies and Strategy Development

WP5 Impact and Dissemination

Boğaziçi University will be leading WP4, which involves university-industry collaboration and regional development as well as Growing the Pan- European and International Network and Collaboration with other universities and European University Alliances. WP4 is one of the three content WP’s and is in the heart of NeurotechEU Phase 2.

In the Lille meeting, WP4 lead Prof. Can Yücesoy, presented aims, targets, 6 months and 2/4 years goals and expected outcomes as well as dependencies of WP4 with the other four WP’s. He proposed in a subsequent discussion session that WP leads meet regularly under WP4 and Neuroinnovation Summit’s are held annually, both of which were corresponded with an applause from the participants. Utilization of NEURICOO as a policy development body is also a consideration.

Can Yücesoy’s presentation can be found here.

According to him the highlights of NeurotechEU Phase 2 are the following:

  • NeurotechEU will be developing graduate programs first and for this, Campus+ will be empowered by the INCF platform in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet. The students from 8 NeurotechEU partnering universities will be able to take courses from the MSc and PhD programs, which soon will be offered.
  • Mobility mechanisms will be in place for the students both physical and digital.
  • Boğaziçi University and Miguel Hernandez University are teaming up to apply for

(1) EU grants on Stroke research, which is very much in line with Neurotechnological Solutions Platform’s scope of developing innovations translational to the industry and

(2) EU Erasmus Mundus funds to develop dedicated Neurotechnology MSc programs

in collaboration with other NeurotechEU partnering universities as well as associated partners such as Sabancı University.

  • Boğaziçi University’s neurotechnology technological and societal innovation hubs for NeurotechEU will be the Neurotechnological Solutions Platform and the Neurotechnology MSc program.
  • Boğaziçi University will be facilitating Regional Development actions of NeurotechEU by operationalizing a co-production mechanism with a reimagined community of experts/partners – where knowledge and expertise are distributed, rather than hierarchically organized – to understand how neurotechnology can contribute to societal challenges and a sustainable regional development.
